JUNE 2026
primavera, plane rides, pride month, etc.
primavera, i’m not gonna get too into it because i’ll talk about this on my talkback episode on the tape library, but: primavera. it was wet, it was wild, and truly a wonderful experience. day 1, we got rained out. for us, it was an oklou concert. we got in with enough time to get the grounds, grabbed a drink, and posted up for chica. we watched her set front to back. there was a little yellow bug with wings that clung to joe’s rain coat and watched most of the set with us.
once the cancellations happened, then it went a little south. having no control and just going with whatever nature gave was both freeing and exhausting.
day 2 was ethel, addison (my fav), amaarae, jade, and pink pantheress. we closed out the night watching some chica dj - my knees were chopped by the end.
day 3, we wandered in just around sunset to catch some big thief. we moved over to smerz, watched a little until posting up for olivia rodrigo. i snuck away from her set see arca dj (she ran right up to us in the crowd and gave us some love, it was fab). we watched nick leon’s dj set, a bit of ninajarichi and closed out the fest with peggy gou, dancing until the 6am sunrise.
club, another club, bus, plane, next place, no sleep, no fear.
the cottage + begur,
we drove 2 hours up the coast (on no sleep, mind you) until we make it to our cottage. monica was a gem. her space was stunning, an oasis. we lounged, rested, wandered around the ranch, drank, watched tv, worked on a puzzle, played sudoku, talked, laughed, slept (finally)
we sat on the beach in begur. walked around the town. hiked the castle. ate and drank.
jack and i had a 23 hour travel day back to la. i was happy to lay in my own bed again.
ariana grande,
it’s been 7 years since ari has toured. the last time i saw her was at coachella when she brought out justin bieber in 2019. i think i was 21, probably rolling, and didn’t understand how the world worked yet.
we had floor seats at staples center, night 2. stacey and i went together. the crowd was loud (i forgot my loops, ugh). every person in our row was crying, belting, dancing. i facetimed some friends and shared some fun moments. hearing honeymoon ave was … i’m getting chills typing this out! i watched nickelodeon at my dads with my sister rayleen. i knew ari from victorious. i was 13yo living in davis pre-ordering her album the summer before high school. following her music career has been so fun, getting to grow up with her.
we ran into ilya as we found our seats. we met his daughter and had a cute chat before the countdown began. seeing hate that i made you love me live made me like the song SO much more. seeing her cry made me so happy to be there. it was a great crowd, incredible show, and i’m grateful to have experienced it.
nyc,
i stayed in chelsea. i saw jack’s art. i stomped around, bar hopping in manhattan. i drank many a spritz, found myself at washington square park, basking in the sun. i played a few rounds of sudoku, caught up with some friends on the phone. saturday night i went to bar 101, dancing with eush and zoe and raffi and wren and julia. jake, their friend, was djing. isaiah was there, too.
sunday, i rolled out of bed and wandered to georgie’s, a new bar in chelsea that opened a few weeks ago. i was there saturday watching the world cup (who knows what teams were playing). trinity was my bar tender again. i ordered a coffee, a hangover cure, and an avocado toast. millennial core. i met the girls in park slope, saw zoe’s apartment, met her bf jesse, and we ubered to ridgewood to go to a day party called soul summit hosted by mister sunday. there were gay guys and lots of poc. hardly any phones out (they weren’t allowed on the dance floor) and bodies were moving. they had guinness on tap and tacos to eat. after hours of dancing, chatting, smoking, we split. went back to chelsea to pack and rest.
i missed my flight home, scrambled to get on the next jetblue flight to lax, and when i finally made it, i’d never been happier to be in california. i love this mf state dude like wow. california.
audrey hobert,
the show was short and sweet. emily, alex, karina and i had some wine, called a car, and queued for the show. inside we got some drinks and schemed on how to sneak alex and emily into the GA floor section (it was a success). we danced, sang every word, and like everyone, screamed when malcolm todd walked out during sue me.
angeleno,
i played a pride dj set at angeleno wine co in chinatown. i felt ill prepared but once i was on it was like riding a bike. the wine they had on tap, SuperBloom, was SO good. green apple, crisp, refreshing, a perfect summer sipper. i had lots of fun - if you’re reading this and you came, ilysm <3 thansk for supporting gay people and small businesses, happy pride fr.
joshua tree,
the desert air was warm with a breeze. the stars were shining bright. the moon was full. the hue of colors during sunset were beautiful as always. rini and i vegged out, watching tv, eating junk food, drinking beers, talking and laughing and resting and vibing. it was a perfect little getaway in the desert!
